What is mission?
“Missions” has been described as being ‘any activity in which Christians are involved for world evangelism’. At its very simplest “missions” really is reaching out to to people to tell them the the good news that God loves them.
There are two prongs to “Missions”:
“Missions” is reaching out to groups of people outside our immediate circle of friends and family, people whom we personally can`t reach for whatever reason, whether abroad or in England. We can be involved in missions by supporting organizations and people who are in immediate contact with those we can`t reach.
Why we tell you all this
To inform you of the projects and people that we as a church support. 10% of what you give to St. Mary’s is given to support missions projects.
To help you to widen your understanding of what God is going over the world and to help you see that we are part of something world wide.
In addition to supporting the organisations and people listed, St. Mary’s Mission Committee also support a number of its own members on short term mission. We currently help: Steve Carter and Jeff Pullinger, working for the Scottish YFC band, ‘Kurios’, touring around schools in Scotland; Miriam Barrett, carrying out a YWAM discipleship training course in Calgary, Canada.
