Luton Church Cemetery was opened in 1854. Originally laid out on farmland, the cemetery now covers most of St. Anne’s Hill, in the centre of Luton.
The cemetery is run by Trustees, chaired by the Vicar of St. Mary’s, the Parish Church of Luton. There are three entrances: through an archway off Crawley Green Road, with a former Victorian chapel on one side and Cemetery Lodge on the other, through
the Cumberland gate (between houses and the Friends Meeting House) and through the Ketton Close gate, situated at the far end of Ketton Close.
Interment of ashes
There are four gardens of remembrance for the interment of ashes. Three of these have flat memorial stones laid in grass. One further garden can have upright memorials.
Burial Plots
Burial plots are still available and can have memorial stones. The new burial area alongside the Ketton Close gate is a lawned area and kerb sets are not permitted.

Seaching for a grave in the Cemetery
We are constantly adding records to our computer database, currently 1984-present, please contact us for a search to be made.
Memorial safety
To ensure the safety of visitors and those working in the cemetery, the Trustees, under the directive of the Health and Safety Executive, are carrying out a safety audit of all memorials within the cemetery. The Trustees are obliged to make safe any memorial found in immediate danger and will attempt to make contact with the owner. Memorials remain the property and responsibility of the registered grave owner and owners are required to check that their memorial is safe. Should owners find their memorials to be unsafe they should arrange to have repair work carried out by a monumental mason.
