“Tim na bang” is a phrase meaning come and learn, grow, discover and be enriched.
The Timnabang project, headed up by Moira Austin and Anne Jenkins under the charitable organisation called TADDEG, runs practical courses for those leaving school without the qualifications to be employed or go onto further education. The aim is to help participants become employable, set up their own mini-businesses and become more secure economically.
This project has been very successful, over the years, with many students going through the I.T. Courses, and more taking the dressmaking and cookery courses.
It is the hope of the team that local people will become more involved in the actual running of this project as time goes on.
