Tearfund is a Christian organisation that works to bring help and hope to people in need. It was set up to enable evangelical Christians to bring `good news to the poor` around the world and now works in over 70 countries. Tearfund very much works alongside the poor, teaching practical skills, helping them become self-sufficient in terms of income and helping people out of the poverty trap. Tearfund programmes and strategies are developed and defined regionally and in consultation with key partners. Three key areas of work are public health, children at risk and disaster preparedness. Tearfund also does a lot of campaigning for issues such as debt relief and provides a lot of information so that people can be informed of these issues.
