Welcome to St. Mary's!
We are a vibrant town centre church which seeks to love God and follow Christ, whilst loving and serving the people of Luton.
Our style of worship is modern and family orientated and our church family has a mix of all ages and backgrounds, however we love worshipping and serving together as part of God's great family. St. Mary's has been in Luton for over nine hundred years and, even though our style is modern, we worship in an incredibly beautiful building. Together we seek to serve the town and live out our vision of Loving God, Loving Luton and Following Christ.
SEEKING GOD'S KINGDOM AND HIS PRESENCE
Everything we do rests on having a transforming relationship with God.
As individuals and as a church we create the space to encounter God through His Son Jesus Christ, by the power of His Holy Spirit.
We seek to make space for this encounter through our worship, through prayer ministry, through seeking to hear God speaking to us, through the teaching of scripture and in many other ways.
GROWING COMMUNITY
Once we have worshipped at St. Mary’s for six months we see ourselves as “hosts not guests”. As Christians we seek to be welcoming and contribute to our communities. Socials, serving, small and medium-sized groups are a key in building our family. We seek to develop loving relationships and do conflict well as a part of this.
GROWING THE CHURCH
As Christians we seek to discover God, grow in our relationship with him and respond to his transforming love. We are all on a journey from attendance to membership to discipleship to ministry to leadership to being sent in mission.
As disciples we seek to be able to share the Gospel, pray, read the Bible, do mission, live generously and cross boundaries. Prayer is important at all levels of church. Our financial giving make this church possible, and every gift makes a difference.
EVERYONE IS INVOLVED
We believe there are no superstars in the church and that all individuals are gifted by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to play our role in his church, his kingdom and his world. It is as Christians together that we seek to engage with people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities.
BEING A RECONCILING PEOPLE
We believe that responding to God’s transforming love leads us to service, mission, crossing boundaries and stepping out. We seek to understand our context and actively engage with it. As a church we realise we can’t do everything so we seek to do a few things well.
