Baptisms

For Babies and Children:

We’re delighted you’re thinking of baptism, christening or thanksgiving for your child. Your child is precious to you and precious to God. At a baptism/christening you promise to raise your child to know God loves them, and to help them to follow Jesus as a member of the Church. At a thanksgiving you give thanks to God for your baby.

Everyone is welcome to have their children christened in their parish church. During the christening service your child will be baptised and with the support of the church, you and godparents, your child begins an amazing journey of faith. Please click here to find out what parish you live in.  That will give you contact details for your church.

All you need to know about planning and going to a Church of England christening can be found on the Church of England christenings page. It also includes information about another church service to say thank you to God for your baby.

For You:

Sometimes, seeing someone else baptised, deciding to have your own child baptised or being asked to be a godparent, can make you to think about your own journey of faith. If you were not baptised as a young child, you may be deciding now as an adult or teenager to make this commitment.

Whatever led you to this point, baptism marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives.

We will be holding our next Adult Baptism service in February. Do contact us at admin@stmarysluton.org if you are interested.

Please see below the great photos from our one of our adult baptisms.
