June 2026

Mon 1st The Team meet every Monday morning for prayer and planning. Pray for The Clergy Team especially at this time of transition with Joseph leaving and Curate Jay preparing to join the team. Mike is away on holiday – pray that he will return refreshed.  

Tues 2nd Today the Hirings Team meet. Give thanks for all those who hire our building and for the income it brings to the church. Pray for Ian – our Hirings and Events Co-ordinator as he manages the bookings and is on hand to help the hirers. 

Wed 3rd Many of our young people return to school and college this week to do exams. Pray that they will not be anxious – but will do their best, and to recall the things they need to remember. 

Thurs 4th As Welcome Thursday becomes part of our weekly routine, pray for the new team as they learn to work together, and for each person who comes in – that they will find it a place of welcome and safety. Pray that more university students will come in, ready to talk & find out about faith. 

Fri 5th Today we welcome the team from York University, and many invited from our local community, who use or are linked to St Mary’s, for our Stakeholders Day. Pray that we’ll be able to share the vision of improving the facilities at the back of the church, & that it will be a successful day. 

Sat 6th The Bedfordshire Local History Society hold their meeting at St Mary’s today. https://www.bedfordshire-lha.org.uk They will be exploring the fascinating history of the town, including the patronage system of the church that shaped our society, the industrial might of Vauxhall & the arrival of the railway. Tickets in advance until 31st May.  

Sun 7th ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ 2026. ‘The God who is with us in the everyday – in the joys and sorrows of life (& everything in between) and the One who, through His spirit, longs to reveal Himself to those who do not yet know Him.’ Over the next 11 days, pray for 5 people you know, who do not know Jesus yet. 

Mon 8th ‘Music on Monday’ uses our beautiful building alternate Mondays for concerts. You may have noticed that we now have a 2nd Grand Piano?  Tonight it will be played. Tickets available on the door. Pray for each person as they come into our building that they may be awed by the presence of God. 

Tues 9th Holiday Club 20th – 24th July 2026. Pray for - Harika & Angela as they plan this & for leaders and helpers to commit to being part of the team. Pray that parents will sign up for their children to attend. Pray that it will be lots of fun & that children will come to know Jesus as they learn more about Him. 

Wed 10th The local charity – Noah – supports the rough sleepers of Luton and those who are out of work, offering ‘Health, Wellbeing and Recovery Support’. Pray for rough sleepers in our town that they will find hope through the support Noah is able to offer.  

Thurs 11th Give thanks for all the young people who come to St Mary’s on Thursday evenings for Impact. Pray for Adam, Ulrike & Kristina as they lead the evenings, and for the young people that they will find encouragement by learning more about their faith & being with other Christians. 

Fri 12th Mark Stevens continues to negotiate with Luton Town FC regarding the covenants St Mary’s holds on the Power Court land. Pray that they will come to wise decisions as these covenants are discharged to each party’s benefit.  

Sat 13th Give thanks for all the families who come to St Mary’s and for the children who make up Young Church. Pray for Harika as she leads this work, and for there to be enough Leaders and Helpers each Sunday. Pray that the children will become disciples of Jesus from a young age.  

Sun 14th Today is our monthly Peace Service. Pray for the countries of the world that are in conflict. Pray for Peace Makers as they encourage leaders to come together and for a pathway for peace to be worked out. 

Mon 15th As a church we take Safeguarding very seriously. Pray for those in the church who are in vulnerable situations that they will know our support. Pray for Trish our Safeguarding Officer and for Mike our Vicar as they make important decisions about our safeguarding.  If you are concerned about anyone or anything, please report it. 

Tues 16th Today our Seekers Group will be meeting for fellowship. Pray for each one, as they find life more challenging with the restraints of old age. May they know they are valued and respected members of St Mary’s.  

Wed 17th Pray for our government and all in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity (1 Tim 2:1) Pray for leaders – nationally and locally, that they will make wise decisions. 

Thurs 18th The aim of The Feast is to ‘bring together teenagers from different faiths and cultures to build friendships, explore faith and change lives.’ Pray for Ulrike and Kristina as they lead the Feast at St Mary’s, and for the young people who come, that they will feel confident about entering dialogue with those of different backgrounds. 

Fri 19th Give thanks for Angela & her team who collect “Best Before’ food from M&S, & distribute it to Noah and to St Mary’s. Can you pass on food to others or contribute to St Mary’s on what you would have spent? 

Sat 20th Work is progressing well with building the new Power Court Stadium for LTFC. Pray for safety for all working on the site – that it will proceed on time & on budget. Pray for those making decisions about the club and for the players during this rest season. 

Sun 21st Today we will be given a label to write our name on as we come into church. Try to speak with at least 2 people who you have never spoken to before, learn their name & find out something about them. We are family together! 

Mon 22nd Give thanks for Rachel our new Administrator as she settles into her role; for Ian as Hirings & Events co-ordinator & Bethany our Cleaner. Give thanks for the many volunteers who support the work of the office. 

Tues 23rd Pray for our leaders – Mike, Andy, Joseph & Chris, and for those in training – Chukwuma & Julie. For Jay as she prepares for her ordination on 5th July. Pray for others who are sensing God calling them into ministry. 

Wed 24th Peter Hunt is coming to the end of his first year at Moorlands College training to be a Youth Leader. Pray for him that he will finish his first year well and to know how to spend his summer. 

Thurs 25th Give thanks for the Youth Band and for Phoebe (one of our organists), as they learn to worship together and then lead the church in worship. Help them as they practice their musical instruments to become worshippers! 

Fri 26th Pray for Bishop Andrew Rumsey who will be our next Bishop of St Albans, as he & his family prepare to move to St Albans during the summer. 

Sat 27th Give thanks for The Friends of St Mary’s as they raise money to help with repairs needed to continue making our building beautiful. Could you become ‘A Friend’? Details at the back of church. 

Sun 28th Today is Joseph’s final Sunday & we will be joining together for a meal after the service. Pray for the Adewale Family as they prepare to move to Wootton this week. That they will soon feel at home & make good friends there. 

Mon 29th Pray for the men of the church, now that their venue for their regular breakfast together has been sold. Pray that a new venue will be found for this important ministry. Give thanks for Clive & for all the organisation he does to make this happen. 

Tues 30th Our church is being used for music exams today and during the week.  Pray for all those who come in - to leave their nerves outside, and to enjoy the acoustics of our beautiful building.
