Small groups are very important to us at St. Mary’s.   As a town centre church we have found that small groups are one of the main ways that people get to know each other as part of the St. Mary's family and we have a number of groups where you will find a warm welcome.

We run both short term and long term groups. Our short term groups run for a set number of weeks and cover a specific topic. These are great if you can’t commit to a regular group for a long period or if you want to try out small groups. They are also a chance to meet new people, either as a new member of the church, or if you are looking to widen your friendships as a regular member.

Our long term groups are a chance to build relationships and deepen friendships. They are a place of support and learning.

Many of these groups are continuing to meet online.
To find out more, or to join a small group please contact the church office.

Living in Love and Faith Group

Walking Group

We have recently started a monthly Saturday ‘longish distance’ walking group where we plan a route of about 6 miles in and around the local area, ending with a pub stop for lunch or refreshments. We see this as an opportunity for fellowship as we walk and talk, enjoying the open countryside with nature at its best. It’s also a great way to keep in shape and we would welcome anyone who would wish to join us.

If you would like to know more or would like to join us, please talk to either Clive, John Spurgeon or Lesley Grierson-Hill and we’ll fill you in on the details.

Ladies Small Group - Looking at John

As a church we are journeying together through the Gospel of John. This small group has been organised as a space to delve deeper into scripture and build community with other Ladies from the church. Please click the button below to sign up.

Journeying with John

We will be looking more deeply into the Book of John over the coming weeks.
We are expecting to be challenged and to grow in our faith in Jesus as we grapple with what John has written in this gospel.

Do join us!

In our group we like to take time to go deep into the Word, although we also take time to get to know each other, to eat together, to pray for one another, to take an interest in one another’s lives and to worship together.

Our aim in it all is to deepen in our discipleship of Jesus - to enjoy who God is, what he has done, what he is doing and what he wants to continue to do in our lives by the power of his Spirit in us.

Sunday Get-Togethers

Time & Place:  4 pm on Tuesdays (currently on Zoom)

We came together after our Joy skills course ended and we just wanted to keep going !  We spend time on appreciating the things around us, reflect on a scripture, share memories of where we feel God has met with us as well as supporting and praying for each other.

We call ourselves the Sunday Get Togethers because we enjoy worshipping together and every now and then we have great fun in sharing food together (usually on a Sunday !)

We meet mid-week - currently on a Tuesday afternoon via zoom.'

Group Leaders: Alison Elliott & Chantal O’Donnell

Time & Place: Fortnightly on Wednesday mornings near L & D Hospital

We believe we need to continue to seek the heights and depths of God’s love. It’s an ongoing journey of discovery for us all. We’re young at heart. We may be limited in some ways, but we can pray, support, listen and encourage – so that’s what we do! We’re ‘family’ to each other and rejoice that we are able to trust one another enough to share honestly our hopes and fears and ‘seeking.’
